MEMBERSHIP BY EXAMINATION
The minimum educational requirement for admission is the West African School Certificate of Education (ordinary level) with credit in five subjects, which must include English Language and Mathematics. Ordinary pass in either English Language or Mathematics may be considered for applicants with a First Degree/ HND
The examinations are held February and August every year. Full information about the examination is contained in the syllabus and applicants are enjoined to read it carefully. Candidates must have been admitted as student members at least three months before the examination date.

In addition, students who have completed the 6 stages of examinations stated above must show a proof of / undergo a Mandatory Industrial HR Experience for 12 months as pre-requisite for Induction.
Exemption Provisions:
Foundation I is the starting point for holders of WAEC/NECO.GCE Ordinary level and National Diploma Certificates. They must however possess the minimum entry requirements
1. Holders of OND/NCE in the Social Sciences, Humanities and Management courses shall begin from Foundation II
2. Holders of first Degree/HND in the Social Sciences, Humanities and Management courses shall begin from Intermediate II.
3. Holders of first Degree/HND in other disciplines shall begin from Intermediate I
4. Candidates who are 30 years and above with a minimum of five (5) credits to include (English & Mathematics) at “O” level and its equivalent will start from Foundation II.
5. Holders of higher degrees(e.g. M.A./M.Sc/MBA/M.Phil/Ph.D) in relevant disciplines shall begin from PE I
6. Holders of higher degrees in other disciplines shall begin from Intermediate II
7. Candidates who hold the Associate certificate, by Examination only, of other relevant and recognized Institutes with a degree/HND and possess the requisite five credits at Ordinary level shall begin from PE I upon submission and acceptance of the student’s transcript from such Institute.

- Foundation II - N11,250.00
- Intermediate I - N12,500.00
- Intermediate II - N13,750.00
- P.E I - N15,000.00

The Study Packs are mandatory for all students.
PREPARATION FOR THE EXAMINATION
Candidates are to prepare for examination by attending lectures at the Institute’s accredited study centers. In addition to lectures, students will find as provided in the syllabus recommended texts for each subject. Also candidates will be provided with customized study packs (for all subjects) at a fee upon registration for each diet of examination. The texts are by no means exhaustive
On completion of the examination and the final professional requirements, the candidate shall attend the Induction ceremony during which he/she shall be admitted to the grade of Associate

Membership Grades
There are six grades of membership of the Institute. These are:
• CORPORATE MEMBER
• FELLOW
• FULL MEMBER
• ASSOCIATES
• GRADUATE
• STUDENT MEMBER
Corporate Membership
Corporate membership of the Institute is designed for organizations in the private or public sector; engaged in marketing and related fields. Before being awarded the membership of the Institute such organisation must have been adjudged by the Institute’s committee as having attained the standard set by the Council of the institute.
Fellow of the Institute is conferred on individuals, (indigene or expatriate) who is not less than forty years of age. The individual must have completed the professional examinations of the Institute or its equivalent from a recognized Institution locally and or overseas. Also, the applicant for fellow of the Institute must have ten years working experience at senior management as marketing practitioners or specialist in Sales and marketing related areas.
A Fellow may also be awarded as honourary to individuals who have contributed to the promotion and development of marketing and adjudged to have attained such level in industry, commerce and public administration to be emulated by other members. Fellows of the Institute are expected to assume responsibility for grooming prospective practitioners in the industry directly or indirectly through supervision and other various activities which they may be required to perform by the Institute.
Conferment of Fellow on any individual is the prerogative of the Council of the National institute of Marketing of Nigeria.
Full Membership
Full membership of the National institute of Marketing of Nigeria is conferred on an individual who has completed the professional examination of the Institute or its equivalent or an individual who has successfully completed the conversion programme or any other programme of assessment deemed adequate for that purpose by the Council of the Institute. In addition, prospective full member of the Institute must have attained the age of twenty-five years of age and possesses a period of not less than five years post qualification experience in marketing or related fields.
Associate Membership
Associate membership of the National institute of Marketing of Nigeria is conferred on an individual who has completed the professional examination of the Institute or its equivalent or any conversion programme of assessment deemed adequate by the Council of the Institute. In addition, prospective Associates of the Institute must have attained the age of twenty-one years and possess a minimum of two years working experience in marketing or related fields.
Graduate Membership
Graduate membership of the National institute of Marketing of Nigeria is awarded to any individual who has attained a minimum age of twenty-one years and who has successfully completed the final stage of the professional examination of the Institute. Graduate of the Institute is expected to upgrade to Associate membership of the National institute of Marketing of Nigeria after possessing two years cognate working experience and be conferred chartered member of the institute.
Student Membership
Candidates are admitted as Student members of the National institute of Marketing of Nigeria if they meet the specified educational and or experience hereunder stated.
For all practical purpose, requirement for admission to student member of the Institute are:
i) Candidates must be at least sixteen years of age.
ii) He should possess a minimum of five passes at credit level in the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations or the GCE O’levels.
iii) The five passes must not be more than in two consecutive sittings and must include English Language and Mathematics.
iv) Candidates are also expected to demonstrate willingness to attend formal tuition on a full-time of part-time basis in Institution duly approved by the Council of the Institute.
